Interesting Bed Facts – Do You Need A New Bed?

Many people are unaware of the importance of having a decent bed with a comfortable and supportive mattress. Are you constantly waking up unrefreshed, feeling tired, or aching? This could be down to not having a good night’s sleep, and purchasing a new bedstead and mattress may help eliminate these problems.

Here Are Some Interesting Bed Facts:

  • On average a third of our lives are spent asleep so having a supportive bed is very important to avoid back problems, aches and pains.
  • Having an uncomfortable bed can affect your working life as well your social life.
  • There is no such thing as an “orthopaedic” bed. It is a generic term used to describe extra firm beds.
  • Over 100 million working days a year are lost through back problems. The figures increase annually.
  • You grow in the night by as much as 2cm. During the day, your spine is compressed. At night it has the chance to straighten and recover.
  • You move in sleep 60 – 70 times a night, with up to a dozen full body turns.
  • On average, a comfortable bed will give you one hour’s extra sleep per night.

  • Having an old bed isn’t good for anyone – especially if you have allergies. There are thousands of dust mites that live off dead skin cells, horrible but, if you have any allergies it can make them worse.
